Locksmith in Oro-Medonte, OntarioRekey. Repair.Replace, if it needs it.
Most locks in Oro-Medonte do not need replacing. They need new pins, a clean cylinder, or a strike moved a few millimetres so the bolt stops fighting the frame. We start with the least invasive fix, say plainly what we see, and only move up the list when the hardware has truly reached the end of its life. Calls from Bass Lake Park, Carley, Coulson, Creighton, Edgar, Fergus Hill Estate, Jarratt, Martin Farm, Mitchell Square, Prices Corner, Rugby and Marchmont are covered too.

Book a lock repair in Oro-Medonte
When you call from Oro-Medonte, a locksmith answers, not a dispatcher reading a script. He asks what the door is doing, tells you what the visit will likely involve, and arranges a time. The assessment and the price happen at the door, once he has seen the hardware. The same person who took the call is the one who does the work.

2021 census · what it means at the door
44%Homes of every age
About 44% of homes in Oro-Medonte were built in 1980 or earlier, according to the 2021 Census.
A mix of eras means a mix of bores and backsets. Standard modern sizes on one door, older dimensions on the door across the street. Carrying adapter plates and cylinders in both ranges lets a locksmith fit upgrades cleanly to either.
97%Mostly houses
Single-detached houses make up about 97% of homes in Oro-Medonte (2021 Census).
Where most homes are detached houses, each one has several exterior doors: front, side, back, garage entry, sometimes a walkout. Getting them all onto one key is the most requested job, and it usually takes a single visit.

What to expect, answered
My key turns but the door stays locked. What is going on?
A key that spins freely without moving the bolt usually means the connection between the cylinder and the bolt has failed: the tailpiece or cam at the back of the cylinder has broken or slipped, or the internal parts of an older mortise lock have worn. The good news is that this is a hardware fault rather than a lost key, so once the door is opened the fix is a repaired or replaced cylinder and your keys keep working.
What is an interchangeable core, and how do I know if we have one?
An interchangeable core is a small, self-contained cylinder that slides out of the lock with a special control key and drops back in on a new combination. Look at the keyway: a figure-eight shaped face on a lever or mortise housing is the usual sign. Buildings choose them because a lost key or a staff change is handled by swapping the core rather than taking the lock apart, and a locksmith can carry cores pinned to your system.
What is the difference between a deadbolt and the lock in my door knob?
The knob or lever holds the door shut with a spring latch: a bevelled tongue that snaps into the frame and can be pushed back by anything slid into the gap. A deadbolt is a solid rectangular bar driven by the key or thumb-turn alone, and when fully thrown it locks in place so it cannot be pressed back from the edge. The knob keeps the door closed; the deadbolt keeps it locked.
Can I stop people copying my house key?
A restricted keyway helps with that. The key blanks are controlled by the manufacturer and its authorised locksmiths, so a copy generally requires the card, record or authorisation the program uses, cutting down on copies made at an ordinary kiosk. It suits homes where keys are lent to cleaners, contractors or tenants. The cylinders are fitted in the normal way, and you keep the key card safe because it is what future copies depend on.
Can several employees each get their own code once the safe is open?
Many electronic locks support more than one user code, so a manager and one or more backup employees can each be set up separately during the same visit rather than sharing a single combination. A mechanical dial only holds one combination at a time, so multiple access there means agreeing who holds it and how that changes when staff do.
